Zigongosaurus lived during the Late Jurassic Period about 150 million years ago in what is now China. As many other large sauropods this large dinosaur may have traveled in herds, moving slowly from one feeding place to another.

This dinosaur is known from a partial mandible, maxilla, and basioccipital bone. Because the lack of evidence it is difficult for researchers to classify this dinosaur. Some researchers have assigned this dinosaur to be Omeisaurus, and others to Mamenchisaurus.

Whichever genus turns out to be, it would have been a large long-necked sauropod. More fossils will have to be found before the dinosaur can be accurately classified.
