Askeptosaurus
Askeptosaurus lived during the Triassic Period 220 million years ago in what is now Europe. Askeptosaurus measured 6 feet (2 meters) long. It belonged to the family of early diapsid reptiles known as thalattosaurus. Askeptosaurus had a thin, elongated built. It was crocodile-like reptile that spent most of its time in the water. They venture on to land in order to lay their eggs. Askeptosaurus' diet was based primarily on fish. It had webbed feet which facilitated swimming. Askeptosaurus had a long neck with toothy jaws suited for catching fish. Askeptosaurus had a bony ring around its eyes, presumably to protect them from collapsing under water pressure when taking deep dives.
