Euparkeria

Euparkeria lived during the Early Triassic Period 240 million years ago in what is now South Africa. Euparkeria was a small reptile. It measured 2 feet (60 centimeters) long. Euparkeria had a slim body, its hind legs were longer that its forearms. Suggesting that Euparkeria could rear up on its hindlimbs and run over short distances. Euparkeria would be one of the first reptiles with this ability. Dinosaurs and pterosaurs would evolve from Euparkeria.

Euparkeria had a small skull with tiny, needle-like teeth. Like other small reptiles Euparkeria probably hunted small insects. It may have shed its teeth to come up with new ones that were sharper. Same as sharks nowadays. Like other archosaurs, it had a row of relatively light bony plates along its back and tail.
