Aeolosaurus rionegrinus was a sauropod common to the southern hemisphere during the Late Cretaceous Period, about 75-70 million years ago. It is similar to Titanosaurus, but has unusual tail vertebrae with long, forward-pointing barbs. Aeolosaurus r. is one of the last of the large quadrupeds herbivores. It had a long, flexible neck. It is believed by some scientists that this dinosaur had dermal plates, or armor, on at least some portions of its body. This fossil discovery was an incomplete specimen.
